Visitors who are unsure which town to base themselves in can use a free stay planner that matches a town to their plans.

"Most people pick a hotel first and look at the map second, and that is how they end up driving two hours a day," said Kyle Star, founder of Black Hills Hotels. "The stay planner is meant to settle the base town before anyone books a room."

Travel Lake Erie covers Put-in-Bay, Kelleys Island, Middle Bass and nearby Cedar Point, and has covered the islands since 2003. Its ferry guide compares all four Put-in-Bay boats, with fares, schedules and parking. The timing matters this month: according to the guide, the Jet Express season ends October 25, 2026, and the Miller Ferry runs a reduced late-season schedule through November 25, 2026. After that, the guide notes, an air taxi from Port Clinton becomes the only way over. The site also covers island hotels, golf cart rentals, walleye charters and tours.
